Fim do 'don't ask, don't tell'?

"President-elect Barack Obama has stated that he will be ending the U.S. military's controversial 'don't ask, don't tell' policy, thereby allowing gay men and women to openly serve in all branches of the American armed forces. Though polls have generally shown that a large majority of Americans support the inclusion of gay servicemen and women, polls taken within the military tend to tell a different story.

Though the issue has proved divisive in the US, studies have cited the examples of Great Britain and Israel -- where gays have been allowed to openly serve for some time -- as indicating that gay members of the armed forces do not undermine the effectiveness of the military as a whole."
